Fuck censorship

You know, all my life I have heard stuff about how great America is – the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE, they say. (America must have a very good advertising agency taking care of all its propaganda).

So what is all this bullshit about censorship, now? It seems to me that no-one there is either BRAVE or FREE, anymore. In fact, this new bill they passed last month – the Broadcasting Indecency Act of 2005- reminds me of the old South Africa under the Apartheid dispensation, when they put the Security Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act into place, as a general net, to catch and punish anything the Nats didn't fancy.

Although, in those days, the general justification for any act of muting the media was 'communism', which we all know now was a great big farce.

What's the battlecry this time? I forget...

Ah, yes, 'indecency'. We must protect morality! And whose morality, we ask, are you protecting?

Why, OUR morality, of course, and how DARE you ask? It should be common sense!

But there are a few thinking individuals out here who know the truth: common sense is not all that common, and those who use it as an excuse are quite dangerous indeed!

As Coolmac says, “sex is EVIL, but killing the enemy is GOD'S WORK!” I suppose my suspicions were correct the whole time – we are not in possession of any innate desire to create, only to destroy.

From the feminist perspective, I am tempted to pose the question I've been wondering for a while now: If men love women so much that they consider it almost a rite of passage to have sex with them, and there have been millions of praises for the female form throughout history, and they are generally called the 'fairer sex', then why is it that if a woman's nipple is seen on TV, it is regarded by men as dirty, offensive, undesirable, unclean, and a bad influence on the youth?

I mean, if they hate it so much, why don't they all just go off and find themselves a nice young rent boy to live with? At least then, the possibility of them breeding and passing on all those dodgy genes would be significantly reduced, right?

Pah! Hypocritical fuckers! Let's get back to the topic.

It may come as a shock to some, but I consider it quite ludicrous that the following can take place, and there is no-one to stand up and say “Remove those idiots from power and send them straight to the padded cells!

  1. America (and other countries besides) enforce sanctions on apartheid South Africa, deeming their laws, which are based on Christian morality and justified by the Bible, to be unjust and offensive to human rights.
  2. America continues its history of invasion and annihilation of people all over the world, justified by the Bible a
  3. Someone catches a glimpse of Janet Jackson's nipple (oh my!) on national television and
  4. the good ol' American boys in the White House decide to resort to Nationalist government apartheid-era tactics like censorship of the media. The kicker is that they are, in fact, doing it pretty much the same way the old government in SA did it: by imposing much larger fines on the broadcasting services. And so much for the Internet being censorship-free... another time.

Now, the question is: do we all wait for them to get a Group Areas Act going, maybe an Immorality Act or two, and see if they try to base that on their religious dogma (morality) as well, before we wake the hell up and start questioning things in a more active, aggressive way?

I for one, would like to see how America would handle some sanctions.
