Letting Go

You know they said to everything is a season. It's now the beginning of a new season all over the world. In the Northern Hemisphere, they are preparing for the land to die down and sleep for a while. In the Southern Hemisphere, we are almost at our version of easter, where the celebration of life is at its penultimate with the impending equinox. But things all do change and for that we should be glad, although sometimes shit happens that we would rather have put off indefinitely.

I am one of those unlucky sods whose wishes have unexpectedly come true. Due to circumstances which Jimi would describe as "fuckin' sorry" I was forced to sell my motorcycle whom I had named Veronica. She was a beautiful Suzuki 400 Bandit, who had been in many a scrape with me and 90% of the time carried me through without falling down. How gay is that?

I love my bike, but like I said,  unforseen shit occurred, and we ended up parting company. And it so happened that today, I filled out the forms that gave her over to someone else. I don't know what he will do with her. I don't know how long he'll keep her, or if he will even like her, let alone love her the way I do. But it was time. She would agree, if she could talk. She's just not ready for the retirement home yet, like me. So she must travel. To everything, there is a season. And Veronica's Spring has just arrived.

So, here's to Veronica, my baby Bandit, who took me through people, dogs, cars, taxi's, and other bikes, who never gave up unless I had somewhere important to get to and I was late, and who would always rise from the ashes to take me to another party. Love you, Babe. Hamba kahle and may Bast bless and keep you always.
